Grid Connected Systems

Grid connect solar power systems supply solar electricity through an inverter directly to the household and to the electricity grid if the system is providing more energy than the house needs. When power is supplied back to the mains grid, the home owner receives a credit against their power bill for the surplus electricity generated.

A grid connect solar power system is made up of an array of solar panels and inverter which converts the DC output of the solar panels into normal AC electricity.

1. Solar Panels - Converts solar energy to DC electricity
2. Inverter - Converts DC electricity to AC electricity to use or export to the grid
3. Electricity to House - will be drawn from the solar system first and any excess drawn from the Grid
4. Bi-directional meter - Allows meter to read electricity going both directions, so electricity can be sold back into the Grid
5. Power Grid - Your conventional energy source where you currently draw all of your power.
